Auto biography
Victor Kgauhelo Mofokeng was born in Free-state, South Africa.
Mofokeng works with toasted(dead) bread crumbs as a medium in the art making and painting. His hands are his God given brushes. His first rule is there is no rules. He made his name when he was persuading his first year in Fine Art. Where he took a first prize in a workshop that was funded by (NAC) National Arts Council and under pressure agency. 15 students were participating from first year to third year and had paintings done and exhibited at Museum Africa in 2009. He made his name again in Art and Ubuntu Trust Ernest Manqoba Educational Poster Project when he took a 1st prize certificate in 2011,the works were in a travelling exhibition that began at UNISA art gallery November 2013, Then William Humphrey’s gallery in Kimberly April 2014, followed by Durban Art gallery November 2014,Polokwane Art Museum April 2015.
He got distinctions when he was introducing toasted(dead) bread crumbs as an interpretable medium at Funda community college.
Mofokeng had been experimenting, developing and documenting the life circle of bread. Hence is an organic common basic need that cultivates energy for survival. And these three types of Bread namely are: Yeast bread, Quick bread and Flat bread. He was freelancing in film industry, also venerating in mural commissions and mosaic projects. He has exhibited in a group exhibition ESSEN/FOOD by YIX a collective from different parts of Europe in 2015. Victor exhibited in forward forward forward group exhibition that was depicting the world of art in 100 years to come were he was one of 40 emerging artists who managed to exhibit with 60 acclaimed artists from south africa. He also took a first prize again in a 2019 poster caledar project brought to you by ITweb brainstorm and MTN.
Victor is working at a backroom studio. In Free state at Witsieshoek Hasthunya 290 Madikwe village. Where he is temporarily staying with his uncle.
