This painting was taken from a drawing of a girl who was coming from one space and turning and looking at me, the viewer in another space. Her look is so reminiscent of the Dutch master painters like Vermeer that the title is aptly fitting, "Girl, Golden Age."The background is red which comes forward and play as significant a role as the portrait like subject. I love that interplay, making it so obvious this is really just a painting. Beautifully expressionistic.
