Gang gang girl eating Hawthorn berries
by Susan Willemse

Description:

This little Gang gang cockatoo was not going anywhere until she had finished eating her Hawthorn berry. The Gang Gang is Canberra's emblem bird, the female being grey with orange highlights on her chest and the male having a red head, both have a feathered top. These are very gentle birds and sound like creaking branches. Usually they stay high up in the gum trees but this lady liked the Hawthorn berries so was at eye level, notice how she kept one beady eye open on the photographer.
