Witoogies is the Afrikaans name given to these small birds also known as White-eyes or Silver-eyes. They are found in Africa, Australia, and Asia. This artwork shows them larger than life as it is 46cm x 92cm x 3.5cm, it was created on stretched canvas using our own photography as a reference, acrylic paint, and a airbrush. The artist's name is Afrikaans, a language spoken in South Africa and a very close dialect to Dutch and I have called this artwork Witoogie as that was where I first saw these birds, however, these ones were photographed in Australia. I have also shown them off centre and close to real life as they move so quickly they are hard to photograph dead centre.
